Rhodiola Rosea - Chips (16oz)
Fresh from our 2018 harvest! Our Alaskan grown Rhodiola rosea roots are carefully processed as soon as possible after harvest. Upon delivery by the grower, they are quickly cleaned by hand. The rootlets are removed and the large rhizome is gently washed before being sliced into small chunks. They are rinsed a second time and then dehydrated with forced air at 125 F for a day. This quickly stops enzymatic degradation and seals in the rosavins with minimal loss. They are then gently milled to particle sizes that are perfect for making tea or tinctures. We offer small chips and fine grind in one pound and 4 oz bags. Each bag comes with a small packet of free certified organic Alaska Rhodiola Rosea seeds.
While you can make tea or tincture form either chips or fine grind, there are advantages and disadvantages to both. Because of the larger particle size, chips make a more clear tea than fine grind. Tea made from fine grind will be cloudier (even after filtration) due to the higher sediment levels.
Tea or Tincture Instructions
TEA: 1 TBS root per desired cup. Pour in boiling water, steep to desired flavor and effect; usually overnight.
TINCTURE: add 4 oz root to 500 ml vodka. Gently agitate daily for 3 weeks. Take 1-2 tsp 1-2 times daily as needed.
If using fine grind, filter through a coffee filter or paper towel before use. Avoid taking in the late afternoon or evening, as it may interfere with sleep.
